Ferdinand: Liverpool reminded me of Manchester United under Ferguson

Ex-England defender Rio Ferdinand claimed that Liverpool played like Sir Alex Ferguson’s great Manchester United side after Thursday night’s 2-0 win at Anfield.

The Reds steamrolled a disappointing United side in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash.
Daniel Sturridge broke the deadlock with a powerful penalty past David De Gea after Nathaniel Clyne was fouled by Memphis Depay.
Brazil international Roberto Firmino extended Liverpool’s lead with 17 minutes remaining to put the Reds in command ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford next week.
Jurgen Klopp’s side finished with 60 per cent possession after 13 shots on targets and 26 tackles during a frenetic north-west derby.
Speaking on BT Sport after the last-16 clash, Ferdinand admitted that Liverpool played like Ferguson side.
“They outplayed and outfought Manchester United. They played with the intensity of a Manchester United team back in the day. That’s the most disappointing thing.”
Liverpool are in sixth place in the Premier League table and three points behind United.
The Reds make the trip to Old Trafford for the return leg next Thursday.
