Abramovich to meet with Conte within days

Roman Abramovich will sit down with Antonio Conte sometime within the next seven days to finalise the Italian’s imminent move to Chelsea, according to reports.

Conte has been linked with the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge for some time now and as the days continue to go by, it seems that all we’re awaiting is an official confirmation from both parties.

But the former Juventus coach could finally be closing in on a switch to the Premier League, with news emerging that a contract could be signed by this time next week.

The Telegraph report that Conte will meet with Blues chief Abramovich in Monte Carlo, Monaco in the coming days to agree terms on a three-year deal which will see him succeed Guus Hiddink at the end of the season.

In the meantime Chelsea continue to impress on the pitch under the watchful eye of interim boss Hiddink, who is still undefeated in the Premier League in his second term at the club on a temporary basis.

His charges ran out 2-1 victors against Norwich in midweek thanks to goals from Kenedy and Diego Costa which extended the unbeaten run to a whopping 12 games, including three successive wins on the spin.

Their upturn in form has lifted the west Londoners into the top half of the table and they now sit just eight points off the top four, with a late surge for Champions League qualification not entirely out of the picture.

They lock horns with Paris Saint-Germain in Europe next week in the second leg of their round of 16 tie but will have a tricky league fixture against Stoke to negotiate first on Saturday as Hiddink looks to go out with a bang at Stamford Bridge this season.
