Alves: Even if Madrid win Champions League, Barcelona are the best

Barcelona defender Dani Alves says even if Real Madrid win the Champions League on Saturday night, the Blaugrana will have had the better season.

The Catalans clinched the domestic double on Sunday, beating Sevilla to add the Copa Del Rey title to La Liga, which they won the previous week.

Los Blancos face city rivals Atletico in the European showpiece at Milan’s Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, but the Brazilian remained defiant, stating their success didn’t measure up.

“Even if Madrid win the Champions League, it doesn’t eclipse our double,” he said.

“Whatever happens in Milan doesn’t change the fact that we are the best team in the world.”

“I hope to see a great game, with the best team winning.”

The Brazilian went on to praise the desire of his teammates, claiming the level of intensity in their hunt for trophies has not wavered in the eight years since he joined the club.

“I would only add the Champions League to our collection, I wouldn’t change
the double.”

“The league and cup are just as tough to win, and everyone here has shown just as much desire as when I came eight years ago.”
