Ancelotti admits he wants Sanchez at Bayern Munich

Carlo Ancelotti has reopened the door on a potential move to Bayern Munich for Alexis Sanchez, after admitting that he is a fan of the Arsenal forward.

Sanchez’s future at Arsenal is far from certain with the Chilean’s contract due to expire next summer and Manchester City reportedly interested in signing him.

Bayern had been heavily linked with a move for the 28-year-old but Bayern president Uli Hoeness seemed to end that rumour by indicating the Bundesliga champions would not pay large transfer fees for older players.

But Ancelotti has now suggested that he could be eager to bring Sanchez to the Allianz Arena this summer if he is available.

The Italian coach understands and agrees with the club’s culture of not spending huge sums on older professionals but thinks doing so for a talent such as Sanchez is fine, as long as it only happens rarely.

Speaking to the media on Friday Ancelotti said: “If an opportunity comes up, the club will be ready.

“There are lots of rumours. Alexis is a great player but not the only one in the world. I like Alexis. There are possibilities in the transfer market, which can be in many directions.

“I believe that the market is currently somewhat crazy – and Bayern is not a crazy club.

“I know the culture of this club and will not ask for any players for whom the club has to spend crazy sums, but if there are occasions, why not?”
