Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has teased Cristiano Ronaldo about his commitment to football – revealing he took ice baths at 3am.
The ex-Manchester United forward is renowned for his hard work and dedication to training as he prepares for matchdays.
His attitude has made him one of the greatest footballers to every walk the planet, but Ancelotti couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at the Los Blancos superstar
Speaking on the 3am ice baths, and referencing Ronaldo’s supermodel ex- girlfriend, Ancelotti told the Financial Times: “Even though he had Irina Shayk waiting for him at home!”
“He does not care about money, he just wants to be the first,” the incoming Bayern Munich boss added.
Ronaldo could yet be a surprise inclusion in the Portuguese team for the Rio Olympics, with coach Rui Jorge refusing to rule it out.
The international skipper featured in the 2004 competition in Athens as a teenager, but would need to be selected as one the three designated over-23 players to be eligible for Rio.
“We’ve still not decided exactly if we are going to select three players over 23,” Jorge said.
“We’ll have to wait. But I won’t confirm Ronaldo’s presence.”
