Anthony Martial reveals his two best friends at Man Utd

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has revealed that Morgan Schneiderlin and Marouane Fellaini are his best friends at the club.

The 20-year-old Frenchman is still attempting to master the English language after completing a whirlwind move to the club on transfer deadline day last August, so his French-speaking colleagues have been helping him to settle in.

Over the last few months, it’s come to light that Schneiderlin, who’s played in England for eight years, acts as a translator for his international teammate.

Despite that though, Martial insists that he’s getting to grips with the language and picked out fellow youngsters Memphis Depay and Adnan Januzaj as other players with whom he has a good relationship.

When asked who his best friends were, he told France Football: “Schneiderlin and Fellaini. At first, I took English lessons, but because we played every three days, I stopped. It’s fine, though, I’m getting better and better at it, hearing it and speaking it all the time.

“The manager doesn’t really have an accent, so I understand him, more than the English players! I also get along well with Memphis and Januzaj. They’re good guys.”

Although he isn’t yet able to communicate effectively with all of his teammates, Martial has enjoyed an extremely productive debut campaign at Old Trafford, emerging as a key player for Louis van Gaal.

Martial leads United’s goalscoring charts in the Premier League with eight from 25 games, while he’s also created 30 chances and completed 70 take-ons.

His two mates haven’t had such a good time of it though, with Schneiderlin finding himself in-and-out of the side under Van Gaal and Fellaini still struggling to convince the club’s supporters of his worth.

United have endured an indifferent campaign thus far, but could yet end the season on a high if they’re to claim the FA Cup and finish in the top four.
