Arsenal Exodus Set to Continue With Walcott, Gibbs and Oxlade-Chamberlain in Danger of Facing the Chop

Arsenal Exodus Set to Continue With Walcott, Gibbs and Oxlade-Chamberlain in Danger of Facing the Chop

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly considering the sale of three first team players this summer with one first team player nearly certain to see the Emirates exit doors, according to the Telegraph.

Reports are suggesting the three players in question are English trio Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Theo Walcott.

Both Southampton academy products, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott, have struggled this season with indifferent form and niggling injuries that have rendered their influence on the team to be minimal.
In the case of Gibbs, the England international has lost the left-back berth to Spaniard Nacho Monreal, who has been solid and reliable in both offensive and defensive positions.

The potential sales of these players come after long-serving midfielders Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, and Mathieu Flamini all left the club at the end of the Premier League campaign.

Wenger has already moved swiftly in trying to bolster his midfield ranks with the reported £30 million transfer of Switzerland international Granit Xhaka and the £22 million transfer of Leicester City star Jamie Vardy is said to be imminent.

It marks a significant change in Wenger and Arsenal’s usual transfer proceedings as in recent seasons, much to the dismay of Gunners fans, signings have been made at a much later period during the window.

But with significant incomings, outgoings will occur and the English, who promised so much in their early Arsenal careers, look to be the prime candidates to be moved on.

All three had realistic aspirations of playing a key role in England’s bid to win Euro 2016 this summer but after disappointing campaigns for all three, none of them have made the cut and reportedly for at least one, their Arsenal future is in the balance.
