Arsenal fans concede FA Cup to Chelsea after Anthony Taylor is named referee for the final

Arsenal fans are already crowning Chelsea this season’s FA Cup winners after Anthony Taylor was confirmed as the referee for next month’s final at Wembley.

Earlier this season, Wenger was punished with a four-game touchline ban by the Football Association for his involvement in a heated bust-up with Taylor in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Burnley in January.

Taylor, who was the fourth official for that match, wrote in his subsequent report to the FA: ‘Following the award of a penalty kick against his team in approx. 92nd min, Mr Wenger left his technical area to confront me in disagreement at the decision. Before he said anything I said: ‘Think carefully before you say anything.’

‘He responded by saying ‘you are dishonest to your federation.’ I considered this to be questioning both mine and the referee, Jon Moss’s integrity and impartiality.

‘I stated to Mr. Wenger that such a comment was not acceptable and he told me to ‘f**k off’ on two separate occasions.’

And Arsenal fans are now questioning the decision to award Taylor the final, given his altercation with Wenger just a few months ago.
