Arsenal to hand Alex Iwobi new deal taking his pay from £800 a week to £10k plus

Arsenal teenager Alex Iwobi has been offered a mega new contract, according the Mirror.

The 19-year-old will sign the deal, which brings a huge increase from his current wage of £800-a-week to around £10,000-a-week.

Nigerian starlet Iwobi has made an impressive breakthrough into the Gunners’ first team which also saw him score in the win at Everton last Saturday.

Iwobi only signed a five-year deal in October, but his rapid progression and growth spurt this season has pushed him into boss Arsene Wenger’s first team plans.

Wenger has tried to persuade the English FA to call him up after Iwobi represented England at several age-group levels.

But the youngster – whose uncle is Nigeria legend Jay Jay Okocha – is committed to the country of his birth and has joined up with their senior team this week.

Meanwhile, Iwobi has allayed fears over his availability for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt after suffering from food poisoning.

Iwobi missed the Super Eagles first and last training sessions in Abuja as a result of food poisoning he suffered on Monday.

But the 19-year-old Arsenal product has come out to state that he is okay and ready to feature in the game against Egypt.

He wrote on his Twitter handle: “Had the maddest food poisoning but I am good now and feeling ready for the Egyptian match.”
