Arsenal offer Sanchez new £300,000-a-week deal

Arsenal have reportedly offered Alexis Sanchez a new £300,000-a-week deal.

The striker’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and he has refused to sign an extension. Arsenal’s previously offered £225,000, with bonuses that could have bumped up his pay to £275,000 a week.

But Sanchez made it clear he wants upwards of £300,000 before even considering agreeing fresh terms and it remains to be seen whether the new offer will be enough.

He appears to have accepted Arsenal’s stance that he won’t be sold this summer but there is hope he will stay beyond this season.

The Mail reports the deal would make Sanchez the Premier League’s highest-paid player.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain would like to sign the Chile forward, but Arsene Wenger is growing increasingly confident he will stay. The manager refuses to entertain any offers for him, despite the threat of losing him for nothing next summer.

The 28-year-old will miss Friday night’s Premier League opener against Leicester and next weekend’s match at Stoke with an abdominal injury.

Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey, who missed the Community Shield on Sunday with injuries, both trained on Thursday but may not be ready to line up on Friday.

Ozil and fellow midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also out of contract at the end of the season, and offers of more than £50m for either of them or Sanchez would test Wenger’s resolve to keep hold of them.

Arsenal rejected a £25m bid from Chelsea for Oxlade-Chamberlain this week, but Stamford Bridge boss Antonio Conte is determined to strengthen his squad before the transfer deadline.
