Aubameyang confirms he wants to leave Dortmund this summer

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has confirmed his desire to leave the Bundesliga side at the end of the season.

The Gabon international recently returned to Germany following his country’s exit from the African Cup of Nations and signalled his intent to leave, amid continuing speculation linking him with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

“If I want to go to the next level, I need to leave in summer,” Aubameyang told Radio RMC (via The Mirror). “But we must see the proposals and if I’m going to play.

“Real Madrid is still a dream, but there has been too much noise.”

Aubameyang insists he has an important choice to make with the Premier League also a possible destination, but maintains that Spain and even Ligue 1 are attractive propositions.

“I have an important choice to make. Many people would like to see me in England.

“[But] It’s not necessarily the championship that attracts me the most. I like La Liga a lot. Paris is also an attraction. French is of course my first language”

The Gabon international’s exit would be a huge blow to Tomas Tuchel’s Dortmund side considering he is the Bundesliga’s topscorer with 16 goals.

Tuchel and Aubameyang fell out earlier this season when the striker was dropped for a Champions League game against Sporting in November after he took an unsanctioned trip to Italy, with rumours of his exit circulating ever since.
