Azpilicueta confident Chelsea will overcome Paris Saint-Germain

Cesar Azpilicueta believes Chelsea have the confidence to overcome Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League next week.

The Blues will meet PSG once again in the knockout stages, with the first leg of the last-16 tie taking place at the Parc des Princes on February 16th.

While Chelsea head into the game full of confidence – they are unbeaten since Guus Hiddink took over from Jose Mourinho – PSG’s form is rather majestic.

Laurent Blanc’s side have won a remarkable 32 of their last 34 games in Ligue 1 and they are currently 24 points clear at the summit of the table.

The two sides have met each other several times in recent seasons in the Champions League, with Blanc’s men knocking out Chelsea just last term and the Blues going through the campaign before.

“We saw in the last two years against PSG that it ended in a draw both times, one time we went through (on away goals), the other we went out,” the 26- year-old defender told the London Evening Standard.

“It’s going to be tight. They have a very good team and have signed good players. They are getting stronger and we will try to make it difficult for them.”

Chelsea have shown that while their form under Hiddink is up and down, they have rediscovered their never-say-die attitude from last season.

That was displayed in the game with Manchester United over the weekend when Diego Costa scored a late equaliser and Hiddink will be hoping his team show their qualities against a rather lethal PSG side next week.
