Bakayoko: I’m not scared of Drinkwater

Tiemoue Bakayoko is not scared of Chelsea signing Danny Drinkwater as he believes competition for places is healthy.

The Blues are understood to be interested in making a move for the Leicester City midfielder.

He occupies the same position as Bakayoko, who joined from Monaco in the summer but is currently injured after making two appearances.

‘Danny Drinkwater doesn’t scare me,’ Bakayoko told SFR Sport.

‘It’s the competition. It’s good, I think every team needs that. It makes you improve.’

Manager Antonio Conte has already called on the Chelsea board to help with extra signings if his side are to be competitive in the Premier League.

The Italian is seeking at least three new additions with Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Drinkwater among his targets.

‘Don’t forget, when we start next month, we have to play seven games,’ Conte said. ‘I need to rotate my players because it’s very difficult to play seven games in a month with these players.

‘The club is working very hard to strengthen. They know very well our situation. But I’m ready in every case to continue to work with the players we have.’
