Bale set to sign bumper £375,000-a-week Real Madrid contract extension

Gareth Bale will cement his position as one of the top players in the world with a bumper new £375,000-a-week contract.

He will sign the two-year extension to his Real Madrid deal that will tie him to the Spanish giants until 2021.

The Welsh winger was outstanding during the second half of last season, scoring several crucial goals as Real Madrid nearly pipped Barcelona to the league title.

Bale, 27, has also played a key part in two Champions League wins since he arrived in Madrid in 2013.

The then-Tottenham winger signed a six-year contract until 2019 after his £86million move, with a clause for renegotiation after three seasons.

Thus his good form arrived at the perfect time to secure an extension to 2021 plus a bumper pay rise to confirm his place as the second-highest earner at the club, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

Bale started the new season off in stunning fashion, scoring twice as Real Madrid won their first game of the season away at Real Sociedad on Sunday.

And his new contract could be announced before the end of the transfer window.

Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, will also sign a record-breaking contract extension to tie him to the Madrid club for the rest of his career.

The deal, which will be announced next month, is expected to take Ronaldo’s wage packet beyond that of rival Lionel Messi.

Though Messi too is in talks over an improved contract in Barcelona.
