Barcelona chief watches Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso ahead of summer transfer window

Barcelona’s sporting director Robert Fernandez and scout Urbano Ortega were in London on Monday to watch three Chelsea players in their win over West Ham, according to reports in Spain.

Marca claim that the Spanish champions are keeping a close eye on Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and Nemanja Matic ahead of the summer transfer window.

Azpilicueta and Alonso both impressed in the 2-1 victory at the London Stadium, but Matic only came on as a second-half substitute with 25 minutes remaining.

Barcelona are looking to bolster their options on the right side of their defence having failed to find a suitable replacement since Dani Alves’ departure to Juventus last summer.

The report also states that Hector Bellerin remains on the radar, although a deal for the Arsenal right-back may not be financially possible.

Joao Cancelo is also on Barcelona’s shortlist despite Valencia’s poor campaign.
