Barcelona give Neymar permission to complete £198m PSG transfer

Neymar has reportedly been given permission by Barcelona to leave the club in a world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain after leaving training early this morning.

The Brazil international is now expected to make a £198million move to the Parc des Princes after a protracted transfer saga that is sure to go down in history if it can be finalised.

Despite Barcelona’s best efforts to keep the player and public denial that he was for sale, various sources claim the club and his team-mates have grown impatient with him over the course of this saga.

Neymar has been pushing to quit the Nou Camp after becoming aware of PSG’s interest, with it being widely accepted that the 25-year-old is desperate to move to a side where he can escape from being in Lionel Messi’s shadow and become the star of his team.

PSG look set to meet Neymar’s £198m release clause, which will more than double the current world transfer record set when Manchester United paid £89m for Paul Pogba last summer.

According to BBC Sport, Barcelona have accepted Neymar’s desire to leave and have granted him permission to finalise talks with the Ligue 1 giants.

Additional information from RAC1 claims Neymar told his team-mates he was leaving at training today, staying for just 37 minutes before leaving the session.

Manager Ernesto Valverde made the decision to allow the former Santos man time to sort out his future, with PSG confident of getting the deal over the line.

Reports throughout the week have suggested Neymar’s unveiling ceremony in the French capital is already being planned, in what will be the biggest signing for the club since they brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in 2012.
