Barcelona’s Dembele could return for El Clasico against Real Madrid

Barcelona have received a huge injury boost ahead of next month’s El Clasico, with the news that Ousmane Dembele could be fit to return from injury in time for the clash.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger has been sidelined since rupturing a knee tendon in just his second La Liga game against Getafe in September.

His teammates have blazed a trail to the top of La Liga in his absence, already sitting eight points clear of Real Madrid having won 10 and drawn one of their opening 11 fixtures.

And Dembele could be set to give them another boost by returning in time for the first Clasico of the season on December 23.

“His evolution is faster than I expected,” doctor Sakari Orava told Cadena SER.

“It’s possible that he can play against Madrid, but I can not fully guarantee it.”If he made a major effort there would be a risk of relapse, but everything could be well if he takes it easy.”

Orava said earlier this month that Dembele’s injury may have been caused by his eagerness to impress and justify his price tag at Barca, causing him not to mention the pain in his knee.

“Maybe it was a sin of youth not to say that he felt pain in that area before,” he told Mundo Deportivo.

“The pressure he’d been exposed to after his signing for Barca also could have influenced it.”
