Bayern close to signing former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho from China

Former Tottenham flop Paulinho is on the verge of a move to German giants Bayern Munich, according to reports.

Paulinho made 67 appearances for Spurs between 2013 and 2015 before signing a money-spinning deal with Guangzhou Evergrande.

And after a successful stint in the Chinese Super League, the midfielder has emerged as an unlikely target for one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Brazilian paper Globo Esporte claim the midfielder, still only 28, could be on his way to German champions Bayern Munich.

Carlo Ancelotti’s interest in the Brazil international has been well-documented over the last few months as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the 2017/18 season.

And ahead of the summer transfer window, reports suggest Paulinho’s return to European football is imminent.

During his short stint in China, the midfielder has won two Chinese league titles, two Chinese Super Cups, one Chinese Cup and one AFC Champions League.

Earlier this year he scored a hat-trick for Brazil and now looks set to be rewarded for his good form for club and country with a move to Bayern Munich.

Ancelotti’s side currently lead the Bundesliga by 13 points and look set to secure their 27th domestic title. But they were beaten in the Champions League by Real Madrid and the German club will be looking to make new additions ahead of the new campaign.
