Benzema sends message to Sir Alex Ferguson after Champions League triumph

Karim Benzema shared a photograph of himself and Sir Alex Ferguson after Real Madrid lifted the Champions League for the third time in four years on Saturday night.

The France striker has had a brilliant season for Madrid, scoring 19 goals in 48 appearances, and was at the heart of his side’s thumping 4-1 victory over Juventus in Cardiff.

Former Manchester United boss Ferguson, working as a Uefa ambassador, was one of the first to congratulate Cristiano Ronaldo following his magnificent double and he also met up with Benzema in the aftermath of the win.

‘Fergie time. Nice to see you Sir Alex #Legend #Boss #Respect,’ the 29-year-old forward wrote on Twitter.

The ex-Red Devils manager posed for a picture with Benzema in the changing rooms before meeting several of his Madrid team- mates.

Benzema was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford before snubbing United to join Los Blancos in the summer of 2009.

Lyon club president Jean-Michel Aulas even accused Ferguson of tapping up the Frenchman off the back of a scintillating performance in the Champions League.
