Bonucci thanks Juventus in full-page newspaper advert after securing £37m AC Milan switch

Leonardo Bonucci has taken out a full-page advertisement in La Gazzetta dello Sport to thank Juventus following his £36.7million transfer to Milan.

The defender will undergo a medical at the San Siro on Saturday having agreed terms with the Rossoneri and a clean bill of health will bring down the curtain on seven successful seasons in Turin.

And Bonucci, 30, paid tribute to Juve with a heartfelt message though it pointedly failed to make any mention of manager Massimiliano Allegri, with whom he had a turbulent relationship.

Under the title ‘A splendid story’, Bonucci wrote: ‘Seven seasons have passed. Seven seasons of victories, of dreams come true, of growth achieved via an emphatic and exceptional bond with Juve, in its absolute entirety.

‘Six Scudetti, all experienced and earned by fighting. Naturally, there remains the great regret of not winning the Champions League, but stronger than that is the pride of success achieved and of being part of a big family.

‘I always gave my all, truly, to the end. I received, I gave and I learned.

‘What I see today looking behind me is in any case a splendid story, worthy of reaching its conclusion in full respect and affection, without sullying what I experienced together with the Club, the Captain, my team-mates and fans.

‘Thank you for everything, Juve.’

Bonucci’s feud with Allegri had been rumbling for several months after the defender swore at his coach after a match with Palermo before storming down the tunnel.

Consequently, Bonucci was dropped for Juve’s Champions League match with Porto and there rumours of a confrontation at half-time during the Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid.

Bonucci leaves Juventus having played 319 matches in all competitions, scoring 21 times.

He won six Serie A titles, the Coppa Italia three times and was twice runner-up in the Champions League, to Barcelona in 2015 and Real this year.
