Carragher aims dig at Balotelli after ‘wonderful hater’ insult

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has used Twitter to respond to Mario Balotelli‘s “wonderful hater” message by wishing the striker well in his hunt to win the Ballon d’Or.

Carragher has previously described Balotelli as overrated and sent a tweet on deadline day that said Nice had still spent too much to sign the 26-year-old, despite getting him for no transfer fee.

It prompted a response from the former AC Milan attacker who criticised Carragher’s own ability and described the Sky pundit as a “wonderful hater”.

And now Carragher has had another dig at Balotelli by wishing the forward well in his pursuit of the Ballon d’Or trophy.

The striker has previously expressed his desire to claim the biggest individual award in world football but off the field antics and inconsistency on the pitch have left Balotelli without much hope of winning the honour.

Balotelli has scored just one league goal in each of his last two seasons in the Premier League and Serie A respectively, a record he will be desperate to better in Ligue 1 with Nice.
