Cech and Barry honoured in 2017 Guinness Book of World Records

Premier League stalwarts Petr Cech and Gareth Barry are among the stars of the sporting world honoured in the new edition of the Guinness World Records book.

Arsenal goalkeeper Cech takes his place among the weird and wonderful records in the newest edition of the legendary publication thanks to his 181 Premier League clean sheets – the most of any goalkeeper.

Barry, meanwhile, has started the most Premier League games of any player – an incredible 580 to date – during his time at Aston Villa, Manchester City and Everton.

Both players were presented with plaques by the Guinness team, posing for photos with their awards.

There are plenty of other sports stars honoured in the new 2017 edition, which is available to buy now, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic.

There is also a place for reigning Premier League champions Leicester City, who make the cut for having the largest rise in position in the Premier League, in consecutive seasons.

They rose 13 places from 14th to 1st to win the title last season, against 5,000-1 odds with many of the British bookmakers.

Ronaldo is the most followed athlete on Twitter, with an amazing 47.4million as of midnight on October 12.

Djokovic cleaned up on the tennis circuit last year, picking up a world record for the most prize money won in a season – a humongous £14,600,200 in 2015.
