Chamakh hits out at Arsenal boss Wenger over “lack of respect”

New Cardiff City signing Marouane Chamakh has revealed his frustration with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger over a lack of playing time during his spell with the Gunners.

Chamakh was on the books at Arsenal for three years following the expiration of his contract with Bordeaux, but struggled to impress at the north London club.

The Moroccan enjoyed his first campaign at the Emirates Stadium with seven Premier League goals, while also netting three times in six Champions League games.

But following his debut season, the attacker found first-team opportunities very limited.

And Chamakh has hit out at Arsenal boss Wenger over his lack of action, saying that the Frenchman went back on promises to put him up front in a two-pronged attack with Robin van Persie.

The former Crystal Palace forward, who failed to score in nine league outings last season, has accused Wenger of showing him no respect through the lack of playing time.

Chamakh told French outlet RMC: “It is clear that I am a little annoyed at him because I think I deserved more playing time than what I was given.

“As the year began, at the start of the season, he told me that we might change formation and I would maybe be able to play up front with Robin.

“They were nothing but promises… nothing happened. For the aims that I had, I think it was a little bit a lack of respect. I started well and then the next day he shades me out like that.”
