Chelsea celebrated like they’d won the Premier League title – Harry Kane

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has accused Chelsea players of going overboard while celebrating Monday’s draw, citing this as an example of how successful his Spurs have been this season.

On Monday night, Spurs’ 2-2 result against Chelsea meant the Premier League title went to Leicester City, with the Blues denying their London rivals the chance to become champions.

Prior to the game, Eden Hazard, Willian and Cesc Fabregas had expressed their desperation to prevent Spurs lifting their first title since 1961.

Upon achieving this aim, coming back from two goals down through second-half strikes from Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard, the glee among Chelsea players was matched by the frustration of their Tottenham counterparts, nine of whom were booked setting a new Premier League record.

While venting such frustration to BBC Sport post-match with a dig at Chelsea’s players, Kane was also keen to stress that the team must continue to build on the foundation their successful season presents.

“When the ex-champions are celebrating like they won the league at the end, it shows that we’re doing something right,” said the 22-year-old striker.

“We’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing, we’ve got a great bunch of lads, a great manager, great staff and we’ve just got to keep that and keep moving forward.”

Spurs are still on course for their best ever points tally in the Premier League, needing just one more win to set the record.

Kane is also on course to be the Premier League’s top scorer, with the England international managing 25 goals in 36 games so far.
