Chelsea fans slam Batshuayi for laughing at Morata’s penalty miss against Arsenal

Michy Batshuayi has been accused of laughing at new teammate Alvaro Morata after the Spanish striker missed his spot-kick in Chelsea‘s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.

The £70m arrival from Real Madrid came off the bench after 74 minutes, replacing Batshuayi, and scuffed his only effort of normal time high and wide after a superb pass from Willian.

With the scores tied at full-time, the match went to a penalty shootout, and both Thibaut Courtois and Morata missed from the spot.

The former blazed his effort high over the bar, before Morata grazed the post to give Arsenal the two penalty kicks they needed to seal the first trophy of the season in the new ABBA system.

Afterwards, Batshuayi – who did not look particularly pleased to be hauled off for Morata during the match – was seen laughing behind the back of Chelsea’s record signing.

Some Chelsea fans have hit out at the Belgian for mocking his teammate, though others have questioned whether he was actually just messing around during the trophy ceremony, rather than directly after the miss.

Either way, it does not reflect particularly well on Batshuayi…
