Chelsea make £34m bid for Real Madrid striker

Chelsea have made an early £34m bid to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window – but the Spanish club are holding out for a fee more in the region of £50m, according to reports in Spain.
Diariogol is claiming that the west London side have already made a transfer bid to sign the Spanish striker as Antonio Conte considers bolstering his strike-force at Stamford Bridge ahead of his second season in charge.
However, the same report states that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will demand a higher transfer fee than £34m in order to be tempted into selling the striker.
There have also been reports in the British media in recent weeks that Chelsea could be set to try and sweeten the deal for Real Madrid by allowing goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to move in the opposite direction.
Morata has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and was touted as a possible target for English clubs last summer before Real Madrid opted to bring him back to the club from Juventus.
The 24-year-old Spaniard has scored 12 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid so far this season but has only made seven La Liga starts under Zinedine Zidane.
