Chelsea prepare £75m for James Rodriguez ahead of Oscar departure

Chelsea are preparing a big-money move for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, with Oscar set to complete his move to Shanghai SIPG.

The Blues have reportedly agreed to offload Oscar to the Chinese Super League and will earn a hefty £62 million from the sale of Brazil international.

The departure of the 25-year-old will pave the way for a ready-made replacement to come in and Conte has his eyes on Real Madrid’s out-of-favour attacking midfielder Rodriguez, the Mirror reports. The newspaper adds that the Italian is eager to bring him on.

The 25-year-old Colombia international has struggled for regular time ever since Zinedine Zidane took charge in the last campaign, but more particularly this season.

The well-known no.10 has started just four league games this season for Real Madrid and even Isco – who was also out of favour at the start of the season – has leapt ahead of him in the pecking order.

Rodriguez, who was not involved in the Club World Cup final win over Kashima Antlers, could be the subject of a £75 million bid from Chelsea in January, the report reveals.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Zidane would sanction the sale of the midfielder with Gareth Bale out for a considerable period.
