Chelsea ready to pay £65m plus Remy for Lukaku

Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a fresh bid of £65 million for Romelu Lukaku, with Loic Remy being added to the deal.

Lukaku has been heavily linked with a departure from Everton this summer, with former employers Chelsea being his most likely destination.

The Toffees’ No.10 was in free-scoring form last season, netting at least 10 more Premier League goals (18) than any teammate.

Inconsistency plagued his campaign though, as it has done for much of his career thus far, with the Belgium international struggling for form after the turn of the year.

That issue continued at Euro 2016 – Lukaku produced a dominant display against Republic of Ireland, netting twice, but failed to score or assist in any of Belgium’s other games.

However, Chelsea are still pushing ahead to complete a potentially record- breaking deal, according to the Daily Mail.

Indeed, the Blues are prepared to make Lukaku the most expensive transfer of all-time between two British clubs, the source suggests, by making a £65m offer.

Furthermore, out-of-favour striker Remy will be included in the proposal, as Chelsea aim to close-in on Everton’s £75m valuation of Lukaku.

Remy has endured a difficult spell at Chelsea since his switch from Newcastle United, with the Frenchman netting just one league goal last term.

Meanwhile, Lukaku was deemed surplus to requirements by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in 2014, but has developed into one of the division’s most feared forwards, through a combination of physical prowess and technical proficiency.
