Chelsea set to offer Hazard new £300,000-a-week contract in bid to stave off Madrid

Chelsea are set to open talks over a new deal for Eden Hazard this summer amid interest from Real Madrid, according to Daily Mail.

The paper claims that Madrid want to make the 26-year-old their latest Galactico, with the potential for the £100million barrier to be broken.

But Chelsea are determined to keep their Belgian star ahead of Champions League football next season.

Discussions could see Hazard’s pay bumped up towards £300,000 per week with built-in bonuses.

He is currently paid £200,000 after signing a five-and-a-half-year deal in February 2015.

Hazard is also happy in west London and not itching to leave, which suggests he will be open to putting pen to paper and pledging his long-term future to Chelsea.

He was the subject of attention from Real last summer but Hazard opted to remain at Chelsea and has enjoyed another fine season in the Premier League, with Antonio Conte’s side on course for a second title in three years.

And the west Londoners are hopeful they will be able to stave off Real’s challenge with the big-money offer, and by spending another £170m on new signings to convince Hazard they can challenge for the Champions League, according to Spanish paper Marca.

Real’s James Rodriguez and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku are among their targets, as is another Madrid man, Alvaro Morata.
