Chelsea warn Napoli as they launch final bid for Koulibaly

Chelsea have warned Napoli their latest bid for Kalidou Koulibaly is their last as they begin looking for alternatives.

The Blues have launched a series of unsuccessful bids for the defender this summer after new boss Antonio Conte had identified the 25-year-old as his top defensive target, as reported by the Telegraph.

Chelsea’s latest offer, according to the newspaper, is thought to be in the region of £40 million and they have insisted they are unwilling to budge from that figure, with just a week left of the transfer window.

With the player keen on a switch to the Premier League, Chelsea’s warning may force Napoli into cashing in on their prized possession but it’s thought the Italian club are holding out for more, as reoported by the Telegraph.

With their pursuit of Koulibaly proving to be tricky, the Blues have now turned their attention to other possibilities.

With Conte seemingly intent on signing a defender from the Italian Serie A, the likes of Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic and AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli are reportedly alternative targets, according to the Telegraph.

Koulibaly had attracted the attention of Chelsea with his impressive performances in the Italian top flight.

The Senegalese international made 33 appearances for Napoli last season as he helped his side to second place finish in the Serie A.
