Conte gives the green light for Chelsea to re-sign David Luiz

Antonio Conte has given his blessing to a sensational move for Chelsea to re-sign David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Telegragh.

Chelsea were initially lukewarm on the idea of taking Luiz back to Stamford Bridge when he was offered to them on Wednesday, but head coach Conte has now given the green light on the transfer.

PSG are thought to want £38 million for Luiz with negotiations underway for the Brazilian to potentially make a return to Chelsea just two years after leaving for £50m.

Luiz is a big favourite of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and it is looking increasingly likely that a deal will be agreed before tonight’s transfer deadline.

The 29-year-old has won two Ligue 1 titles during his time at PSG and build up a strong relationship with defensive partnership Thiago Silva.

In his three-year spell at Stamford Bridge, Luiz made 143 appearances in all competitions and scored 12 goals.

Chelsea are also in talks to sign Aymen Abdennour on loan for the rest of the season from Valencia in case a deal for Luiz cannot be completed.

Valencia are in the process of signing Eliaquim Mangala from Manchester City, which would allow Abdennour to sign for Chelsea until the end of the season. They would then have an option to buy.

Chelsea made an attempt to sign Abdennour last season before the 27-year-old joined Valencia from Monaco.

Abdennour, who joined Valencia from Monaco last summer made 29 appearances for La Liga side in all competitions last season.
