Conte hints that Moses will keep his place in Chelsea’s XI

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has hinted that Victor Moses will keep his place in the starting line-up if he can recover from a hamstring injury.

Four years on from his last spell in the first-team at Chelsea, Moses is finally getting his chance to shine for the Blues and he has certainly impressed Conte so far this season.

The winger, who has had loan spells with Liverpool and Stoke City, has been a back-up in forward positions early in the season but put in a strong performance as a wing-back at the weekend in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Hull City.

Conte has suggested that Moses will keep his place in the side, but only if he can recover from his hamstring injury quickly.

“I think Moses played an incredible game,” Conte said, via Goal. “In defensive situations and offensive situations because he is working very hard and he deserved to play.

“He showed me that my choice was right today. If he plays in this way and is fantastic [he can keep his place in the team]. I think that Pedro can play in the same way and give you the opportunity to exploit defenders one-versus- one.

“We do not only want wing backs who cross, but if we have a winger who is able to do this role then it is a great option.”

Moses has played in six of Chelsea’s seven league games this season, creating four chances and scoring one goal.

Two of those chances he created came from the wing-back position at the weekend while he also won four out of five headed duels and two of his three tackles.
