Conte hits back at Mourinho after touchline row

Antonio Conte insists he does not have to send a message to Jose Mourinho following his row with the Manchester United boss during Chelsea’s 1-0 win on Monday evening.

The Chelsea manager reacted angrily to Antonio Valencia’s challenge on Marcos Alonso in the first half and confronted his opposite number in the technical area.

Mike Jones, the fourth official, was forced to separate the pair, and Conte maintains he was sticking up for his players in his exchange with Mourinho.

‘I don’t have to send any message to anyone,’ the Chelsea manager told Fox Sports Italia.

‘I am the Chelsea manager and do everything for Chelsea. My players exist, that is all. What happens off the pitch just makes us smile.

‘We played with intensity, with the desire to play football, only allowed them one opportunity due to our defensive
distraction.’

N’Golo Kante’s second-half goal was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for Chelsea, who will now face Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
