Conte urges Chelsea to stay focused on themselves after Liverpool draw

Antonio Conte has urged Chelsea to remain focused on themselves rather than their Premier League title rivals.

Chelsea maintained a nine-point lead at the top of the table tonight following a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.

David Luiz’s free kick made the breakthrough before Georginio Wijnaldum equalised for the Reds courtesy of a close-range header.

Things could have been better for the Blues but Diego Costa saw a late penalty saved by Simon Mignolet.

However, results elsewhere went in Chelsea’s favour as both Arsenal and Tottenham dropped points and Conte is keen for his players not to be distracted by other teams.

“The best thing is to see ourselves, not the others,” he told the BBC.

“We stay top of the table and that is a great achievement but it is important to focus on ourselves.

“There are 15 games remaining and 45 points. It’s important to draw against a really good team and now we must focus on playing Arsenal next week,” the Italian added.

Chelsea host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon and will move 12 points ahead of Arsene Wenger’s side with a victory.
