Coquelin: Wenger made Arsenal players study a video of Man United’s pressing

Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin knew Manchester United would press high up the pitch after Arsene Wenger showed them a video pre-match.

Despite knowing what the Red Devils were going to play like, Arsenal could not get going at Old Trafford and had to rely on a late equaliser from Olivier Giroud to earn a point.

The Frenchman rose the highest at the back post with only a couple of minutes left on the clock to nod home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s brilliant cross, but it was a poor showing overall for the Gunners.

Pre-match, they will have been confident though as Coquelin reveals they were shown a video of how United would set up.

“We watched a video before the game and we knew they would press,” Coquelin told the club’s official website.

“We expected it and in the first half we managed to stop them mostly, even though they had a couple of chances, but in the second half the goal hit us hard. Still, we had the resources to get back in the game and get a point.”

Arsenal only had one shot on target through the entire match so it was lucky that it turned out to be the one that Giroud secured a point with and kept the Gunners’ unbeaten run going.

They have not lost since the opening game of the season against Liverpool.
