Courtois open to La Liga return as Madrid move to land Chelsea keeper

Real Madrid will turn their attentions to Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois if they fail to land David De Gea this summer.

According to Daily Mail, Courtois would find it virtually impossible to turn down a return to the Spanish capital.

Real president Florentino Perez remains determined to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, despite current No 1 Keylor Navas impressing this season.

But as Real discovered last summer, luring De Gea away from Manchester United will be easier said than done.

The La Liga side have drawn up a list of alternatives in case a move for De Gea proves out of reach again, with Courtois top of the list. Real know all about Courtois following the Belgian’s three-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid.

Courtois, who has a Spanish partner, is happy at Stamford Bridge but a return to La Liga, particularly to a Champions League side, would suit him.

And the Blues are prepared to part with one of their top stars this summer to ease the financial impact of not qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Eden Hazard and Diego Costa could also be sacrificed.
