Coutinho: I’m happy to know that Barcelona has an interest in me

Philippe Coutinho has insisted he has heard ‘nothing’ from Barcelona about a potential transfer this summer.

The La Liga giants are reported to be preparing a mega-money move for the Liverpool star.

Coutinho was in scintillating form for Liverpool on Sunday as he played a starring role in the 4-0 thumping of West Ham.

The midfielder scored a brace and set up another goal to help his side come within a win of securing Champions League football.

And Coutinho revealed he has been told nothing about a summer switch and is completely focused on Liverpool.

‘Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world, so far, nothing has come to me, because if anything comes, it comes to my manager, what I have to do is focus on the pitch,’ Coutinho told ESPN Brazil before the game against West Ham.

‘I have a contract with Liverpool, there are two games, there are a lot of chances for us to be in the Champions League next year.

‘What I have to do is focus on football and those things are resolved by the business people.

‘I’m happy to know that a great club has an interest, it’s cool, for the recognition of their work, what I have to do is keep working hard.

‘Liverpool is a great club and we have to put Liverpool back in the Champions League.’

Coutinho signed a new five-year deal in January which significantly boosted the star’s wages at the club.

The 24-year-old has buried 13 goals this season for Liverpool including the brace against West Ham.

Coutinho is Liverpool’s most influential players and would be a huge loss should Liverpool agree to sell him in the summer.
