Cudicini has helped me create a great relationship with Chelsea players – Conte

Antonio Conte has credited Carlo Cudicini for helping him to create a great relationship with the players at Chelsea.

The Blues have won their last five consecutive games with clean sheets, following a 5-0 victory over Everton before the international break, leaving them second in the table one point behind Liverpool.

Conte praised the “important” former Blues goalkeeper for for helping him work well with the players, thanks to his knowledge of the club.

“I have two coaches for the physical work, two for the metabolic work and one for the strength work, and then I have two assistant coaches and also my brother who helps me to prepare for the games with analysis studying the opponent and studying our game,” Conte told the club’s official website.

“I also have Carlo Cudicini who is helping me and the other staff a lot with his experience because he knows the club well and for sure he is a person very important at this moment. He is helping to create a good relationship with the players.

“Communication is very important. It is important not only the manager but the staff feel their responsibility. The manager is the boss but you must give the opportunity to your staff to exploit their knowledge.

“It is important when you are in a great team to have good staff to help you in every moment of the day.”

Cudicini made 141 appearances for the Blues in his nine years at the club before he moved to Tottenham Hotspur and ended his playing career at LA Galaxy.

Chelsea struggled half way through the season so far with defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool, but Conte changing to a 3-4-3 system has rejuvenated the side.

The Blues face Middlesbrough away after the international break as they aim for a win to try to try and knock Liverpool off the top spot.
