Diamond Academy denies Arsenal have withdrawn Chukwueze offer

Diamond football Academy president, Martin Apugo, has denied Arsenal are no longer interested in signing Samuel Chukwueze, insisting the Nigerian teenage sensation is heading to the Emirates in the coming days to complete a deal.

The Nigerian striker has been linked with a move to the Gunners for months, although no official confirmation of a deal has been made.

According to reports, Arsenal had withdrawn the offer they made for Chukwueze following the clubs reluctance to accept their offer.

But Apugo who admitted he wasn’t keen on the teenage moving to north London is adamant a move is still going ahead for the 16-year-old.

“Chukwueze is still joining Arsenal, he will travel any moment from now to start training with them” Apugo told AllNigeriaSoccer.com.

“I didn’t want him to go to Arsenal, wanted him to go somewhere else but he said he’ll be happy if he goes to Arsenal.”

Recent reports suggested there had been an issue over payment discussions between the two clubs.

“There was a little bit of a hitch,” a source told the publication.

“But at the end of the day it will be resolved if, and only if, Diamond Academy agree.

“Arsenal want to pay Chukwueze’s transfer fee when he is 18, but Diamond felt it was too far for them.

“But they should agree.”

Chukwueze starred as Nigeria won last year’s FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile.

He scored three goals at the tournament which Nigeria won for the fifth time.
