Fabregas admits Real Madrid temptation may be too hard for Courtois to resist

Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he would not be surprised to see Real Madrid make an attempt to sign Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Courtois has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top shot-stoppers since his arrival at Chelsea and helped the Blues win the title in the 2014-15 season.

Real Madrid are bound to be linked with a host of top players as the summer transfer window draws ever nearer.

Chelsea midfielder Fabregas feels that Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world, and would not be at all surprised to see Real Madrid make a transfer swoop to try and sign him in the summer.

Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, Fabregas said: “It wouldn’t surprise me at all because Courtois is the best goalkeeper in the world.

“It’s normal that the best teams in the world want the best goalkeeper in the world.

“Chelsea is a top club and, for the future of this team, Thibaut is a very, very important player.

“That is more so considering Chelsea’s future aspirations in terms of competing in the Champions League next season and winning the Premier League title.

“You need the best players to compete for the top trophies and Thibaut is one of them.”

Both Fabregas and Courtois will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues take on Swansea City in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The Blues are currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
