Fabregas responds to exit rumours moments after Chelsea’s victory over Middlesbrough

Cesc Fabregas responded to speculation he could be set to leave Chelsea in the aftermath of the side’s 3-0 win over
Middlesbrough on Monday evening.

The Spanish midfielder made history with his assist for Nemanja Matic’s goal in the 65th minute and the 30-year-old was awarded the man of the match award for his performance against Steve Agnew’s men.

Reports suggest Fabregas, who has struggled for minutes for large parts of the campaign under Antonio Conte, could be on his way to AC Milan in the summer transfer window.

However, moments after the victory, he told Sky Sports: ‘It’s been different year for me. I’m used to playing week in week out through my career but I’ve matured a lot.

‘It’s not easy what has happened to me. Many said I’m not a player for Antonio and I should leave but I like challenges.

‘I haven’t played every single game but I feel the quality of my minutes this season has been fantastic.I have to be patient and accept that these things happen and that’s it.

‘I will play for the team and play for the club. It has been a different season for me but I’m still proud.’
