“I feel at home” – David Luiz reveals the reason behind £34m Chelsea return

David Luiz admits he felt he had ‘unfished business’ at Chelsea following his return to Stamford Bridge last summer.

The Brazilian defender spent three years at the Blues between 2011 and 2014, winning the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup with the club.

But Luiz was offloaded to Paris Saint-Germain for £50million in the summer of 2014 – a world-record transfer fee for a defender.

Despite signing a lucrative five-year contract with the Ligue 1 giants, Luiz sealed a return to Chelsea less than two years later.

And the 29-year-old, who has helped drive Chelsea 10 points clear in the Premier League, admits Stamford Bridge feels like his ‘home’.

‘I enjoy playing for Chelsea a lot, I feel at home here – I was missing it a lot,’ Luiz said.

‘Sometimes you cannot choose everything, sometimes cycles end, sometimes they start again.

‘I am happy to be here. I am working hard, because I have some business to finish.’

Luiz also admitted he craves the feeling of lifting another trophy with Chelsea – something he appears on the verge of under Antonio Conte.

He added: ‘I hope so [to win the league], we need to work hard. I want to have this feeling.’
