Furious Mihajlovic suggests Balotelli will no longer play for AC Milan

Sinisa Mihajlovic suggested Mario Balotelli could no longer play for AC Milan after the striker showed a lack of effort in a late cameo in Sunday’s win.

Milan held on for a 2-1 win over Genoa, who scored in stoppage-time through Alessio Cerci and had a late chance to equalise from a corner.

Balotelli only came on as a substitute in the 88th minute, but Mihajlovic was not pleased with his work rate as the Rossoneri tried to see the game out.

The Milan manager chased after Balotelli on the pitch and expressed his anger after the game.

“We should’ve scored a third goal and not risked at the end. It is also my fault, as those who don’t sacrifice themselves for the team to the 94th minute will no longer set foot on the field,” Mihajlovic told Mediasport.

“It wasn’t just Balotelli, there were another two or three as well as him, they know who I’m talking about.

Carlos Bacca and Keisuke Honda scored as Milan kept pressure on the European spots, though they are still four points behind third-place Roma for the final place in the Champions League.

“Where can we improve? There are many areas, as when Balotelli and Jeremy Menez are fit we will have more attacking options and it’ll be more difficult for the opposition to close us down,” Mihajlovic said.

“Riccardo Montolivo brings balance and Keisuke Honda did really well. They were jeered in the past by fans, but with grit and determination won everyone over.

“We are in the running for the Champions League playoff and putting pressure on the others.”
