Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac says that he ‘would rather die’ than sign with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The 31-year-old France international was born in Martigues, a commune northwest of Marseille, and the striker spent five years playing for the Ligue 1 outfit, whom he supported as a young kid.
However, Gignac opted to move to Mexico in the summer of 2015 to join up with Tigres, after netting 23 goals across all competitions in his final season with Marseille.
Gignac was questioned this week whether he would return to France in the future if Paris Saint-Germain offered him the chance to, something he said would never happen due to his hatred for the club.
“I hate PSG – I’d rather die than sign with them,” Gignac told Life and Style. “If PSG offered me 10 times more money, I would not go there.”
Gignac went on to further emphasise his hatred for PSG, revealing how he went wild when Barcelona knocked Unai Emery’s side out of the Champions League last month.
“You’ve got no idea how I shouted at Barcelona’s sixth goal in the Champions League,” Gignac added. “I screamed, ran, everything. My wife was even a little scared!”
Gignac started his senior career with Lorient and after three seasons there, the forward moved on to join Pau where he spent just one campaign.
Gignac, who was in France’s squad at Euro 2016 last year ahead of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, then moved to Toulouse where he spent four seasons before eventually joining Marseille.
