Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann would love to meet his “idol”, Manchester United legend David Beckham.
Griezmann also reveals that his preference for wearing long sleeves is because of Beckham, who did the same.
Griezmann said: “I wear long sleeves when I play because of Beckham, he did as well and he is my idol.
“He had a lot of class on and off the pitch. That is what I liked about him. No one had the right foot he had. I’ve never spoken to him but I would like to.”
Griezmann himself is seen as one of the standout stars in the current game, with the Frenchman having been hugely impressive at Euro 2016, where he won the golden boot after scoring six goals.
The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Atletico during the summer transfer window but he elected to stay in Spain and has made a scintillating start to the season, scoring five goals in as many La Liga games.
Griezmann was at the top of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s summer wishlist but the forward stayed in Spain.
An extremely skilful player who is capable of beating opponents with ease, Griezmann will be hoping that this will be a successful season for Atletico, who are currently in third place in the La Liga table, two points adrift of rivals and leaders Real.
