Griezmann’s brother hints at Manchester United move with suggestive tweet

Antoine Griezmann‘s brother Theo took to Twitter to post a suggestive tweet on his future, following speculation that Manchester United are leading the race for his signature.

Theo Griezmann tweeted the following message:

Just a year after breaking the world-record transfer fee for Paul Pogba from Juventus, United are now reportedly prepared to do so again for Griezmann this summer, as Jose Mourinho looks to further strengthen his squad at Old Trafford.

The French international has been one of the most consistent performers in Europe over the last few years at Atletico Madrid, thriving under the tutelage of Diego Simeone. Griezmann came close to crowning another stunning season with domestic and international honours last term, but suffered heartbreak both times.

Atletico were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final at the San Siro back in May, while two months later Griezmann’s France lost the Euro 2016 final 1-0 to Portugal. However with United willing to pull out all the stops to recruit him this summer, his love-affair at the Vicente Calderon could be coming to an end.

Those reports have been further strengthened by Theo’s teasing tweet, posting an aerial image of Old Trafford earlier this evening.

Theo had also given United fans the impression he is urging his brother to join them after tweeting a picture of Memphis Depay after his Lyon debut along with the caption: “Sorry Memphis I think Old Trafford is better!”

The Dutchman recently completed a £21.7million move to Lyon after 18 months with the North West giants and made his debut in the 3-1 victory over Marseille.

United fans responded to the tweet urging him to give the same advice to his superstar brother.

Cynics pointed to the fact it may have been more an anti-Lyon post rather than pro-United, but earlier he had tweeted a celebratory reaction to Mathieu Valbuena’s goal for the Ligue 1 giants.

Griezmann was born in a French city near the Spanish border and joined the Real Sociedad youth team at the age of 14.

So it is not clear if he has any particular allegiance to a French side as he has never played for a club in his homeland.

The 25-year-old is heavily tipped to move to Old Trafford in the summer — and is even reported to have agreed to wear the No.7 shirt vacated by Memphis.
