Guardiola looking to sign Barcelona’s Ter Stegen

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly targeting Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, as the Catalan feels he suits the club’s passing game more than Joe Hart.

Hart had a terrible Euro 2016 for England as he made two costly errors in the games against Wales and Iceland, and his new club manager is supposedly concerned heading into the new season.

Guardiola has made several changes at City already, bringing in John Stones, who is likely to oust both Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi from the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, the additions of Nolito, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus put both Jesus Navas’ and Raheem Sterling’s positions in doubt.

However, Hart could become the biggest victim of Guardiola’s revolution, with the Daily Mirror reporting that he’d like to sign Barcelona star Ter Stegen.

The 24-year-old is “unsettled” at Barcelona, the source suggests, and the new City coach believes he suits the role of a “sweeper keeper” more than Hart does.

Ter Stegen joined Barcelona two summers ago in 2014 and has been used as their goalkeeper in cup competitions, while Claudio Bravo has started in goal in La Liga.

The German star, who plays backup to Manuel Neuer for the national team, won the Champions League in his first season at the club while he has also won the Copa del Rey twice.

However, he has been constantly linked with an exit as Ter Stegen has been blocked in his efforts to become the club’s outright No.1.
