Hazard has the ability to compete with Messi – Pedro

Chelsea‘s Eden Hazard has all the qualities and talent needed to be considered in the same bracket as Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, according to his Blues’ teammate Pedro.

Hazard, much like the entire Chelsea team, endured a difficult season last year and scored just four goals in the Premier League as the side struggled to a tenth placed finish just one campaign on from winning the division.

Despite this poor form the Belgium has often been considered one of the best young talents in world football and some camps have tipped the 25-year-old to become as good as Messi in the future.

And Pedro, who spent seven years playing alongside the Argentinian at Barcelona, believes that he has seen the talent in Chelsea’s No.10 that could see him match up to his Catalan counterpart.

The Spaniard has also tipped Hazard to stand out from the crowd and make a name for himself in the English game.

Pedro told the Evening Standard: “When it comes to Messi, we are talking about a player I believe is still the best in the world. He really is on a different level to other players.

“But Hazard is a very, very good player, you can see his technique is excellent and he has shown everything at Chelsea.

“He is still young, so he is going to continue improving to one day be among the very best in the world.

“It’s always going to be difficult to compete with a player of Lionel’s ability, but Eden has all the qualities to do exactly that.

“He has that ability and talent to stand out from the crowd, to make the difference and be decisive. When you see him produce moments of magic, it is easy to draw comparisons with Messi.”

Messi, in comparison to Hazard, scored 26 league goals last season in the Spanish top flight as the Catalan club claimed the La Liga title once again.

Hazard will be hoping he can find his best form when West Ham travel to Stamford Bridge for their opening league game of the new season.
