Hazard delays signing new Chelsea contract deal worth £300k-a-week

Eden Hazard is holding off signing a new Chelsea contract as Real Madrid continue to circle, according to Daily Mail.

Last season’s Premier League champions want to tie the 26-year-old down to a new deal with them willing to pay him as much as £300,000 per week.

It would make him the highest paid player in the history of the club but, like goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Hazard wants to wait until the season is over.

Hazard is happy at Chelsea and has a contract that runs until 2020, though the club knowingly want to extend it and increase his wages.

Spanish giants Real and Zinedine Zidane have targeted Hazard for some time and are planning a squad overhaul next summer.

Conte said after Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United at the weekend: ‘I want them to sign new deals. You are talking about two great players.

‘Thibaut is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Maybe the best. And then there is Eden. The club knows the importance of these two players and they are happy to play for this club.

‘I will be very happy when they can have this deal. These two are great players because they have a lot of space for improvement. They are very young and it will be great to keep them with us.’
