“He’s the f***ing greatest” – Berbatov chooses Messi over ex-Man Utd teammate Ronaldo

Dimitar Berbatov has claimed that Lionel Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo and described the Barcelona star as “the f***ing greatest”.

The debate as to who is the best out of Messi and Ronaldo is long-running and it was the Real Madrid forward who claimed the Best Fifa Men’s Player award this week.

Although Berbatov played alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United, the Bulgarian feels that Messi is the best player of all time.

Berbatov, who now plays for Kerala Blasters, told ESPN: “He’s the f***ing greatest. Ronaldo is brilliant, Messi is more my kind of player.

“He sees the game so clearly. He can score, create, he’s the complete player, the best ever probably.”

Berbatov also claimed that young players should focus on trying to replicate Ronaldo’s workrate rather than his lifestyle.

He said: “Young players try and imitate the best players like Ronaldo. They try to imitate the hair, the clothes, the cars, the tricks. I try to tell them how hard Cristiano Ronaldo trained in training and after training.

“He only wanted to be the best. Everything else came after.”

Messi has continued to excel this season and has scored eleven goals in nine La Liga appearances for Barcelona, while he has created 18 chances and has frequently impressed with his sublime dribbling.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, saw his start to the campaign disrupted by suspension and he has scored just once in La Liga so far, but that tally will surely increase significantly as the campaign progresses.
